Frequently asked questions

What is a Daily Wisdom book?

A Daily Wisdom book is a 365-day secular reading book. Each day is one page: a passage from a public-domain source, a short insight, one small practice, and a line to carry. It takes about five minutes.

Are these religious books?

No. Daily Wisdom books use the psychological and practical core of each tradition and leave the doctrine out. You do not need to believe anything to read them.

Which book should I start with?

Any of them. They do not build on each other. Pick the tradition that matches the problem you actually have: Stoicism for reactivity, Tao for wasted effort, Buddhism for holding on, the Bhagavad Gita for being frozen. The series page walks through all four.

Do I have to start on 1 January?

No. Days are numbered 1 to 365. There are no calendar dates in the books.

What happens if I miss days?

Nothing. Pick up where you left off. The structure has no streak to break.

What is the difference between Daily Wisdom Books and The 30-Day Shift?

Daily Wisdom Books is a year of daily reading drawn from a wisdom tradition. The 30-Day Shift is a thirty-day program that solves one specific problem using behavioral science. Different length, different method, different purpose. Same author.

Are these books available in Kindle Unlimited?

Availability varies by title and changes over time. Check the current listing on Amazon for the title you want.

Do the books contain journaling space?

No. The reading books are one hundred percent content. Companion journals are separate products, so you can use either or both.

Where do the quotations come from?

Public-domain translations only, with the translator named on the page. Full sources are listed on each book’s page and each reading list links to the free complete text.

Is there an audiobook?

Several titles have audio editions. Check the individual book page for current formats.
