Privacy policy
This site collects two things. Your email address, but only if you type it into the signup form yourself. And anonymous measurement of the pages you visit, through Google Analytics, which runs on every page. What follows is the detail on both.

Who runs this site
Daily Wisdom Books is an independent publishing imprint. Every book on it is written by Mitra Goris. For anything in this policy, write to mitra@dailywisdombooks.com.
Your email address
Collected only when you submit the signup form. Nothing else is asked for and nothing else is stored. There is no account to create, no contact form, and no comments.
The form posts directly to Kit, the email platform that runs the letter. It is a plain HTML form, so it works with JavaScript switched off and nothing is captured before you press the button. If you never submit it, no address of yours is held.
It is used to send you the Tuesday letter and whatever you signed up for, such as the seven free days. That is the whole list. Your address is never sold, rented, traded or shared with anyone for their own use.
Analytics
Every page on this site loads Google Analytics 4. It records that a visit happened and how it moved through the site: which pages were opened, in what order, for how long, roughly where in the world the visit came from, and what kind of device and browser was used. It does not know your name, and it is not connected to the email list. Nothing you have to type in is sent to it, because there is nothing to type in except the signup form, and that posts to Kit instead.
It is used to see which books and articles people actually read, so the next ones are better chosen. That is the only use.
Your IP address is sent to Google to work out the approximate location, and is anonymised in the process rather than stored in full against the visit. How long Google keeps the underlying event data is controlled by a retention setting on the Analytics property itself.
Advertising features
Google’s advertising features are switched on for this property. In practice that means a request also goes to Google’s advertising systems on each visit, and the visit can be added to an advertising audience that Google is able to reach again elsewhere. This is worth stating plainly because it is the part people least expect: it is the difference between a site counting its readers and a site contributing to an advertising profile.
No advertising is sold on this site, and no advertiser is given your data. If you would rather not be included, the opt outs in the section below all cover it.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets two cookies in your browser, both belonging to this domain rather than to a third party:

Neither carries your name or your email address. Both are set by script when the page loads, and both can be deleted at any time from your browser’s settings, which resets you to an unrecognised visitor.
The site itself sets no cookies of its own. The one exception is the site’s administrator, who receives the standard WordPress login cookies when signed in to manage the site. That applies to no one else.
How to switch the measurement off
Any one of these works, and none of them affects the reading:
- Install Google’s own Analytics opt out add on, which stops the measurement on every site that uses it, not only this one.
- Turn on your browser’s tracking protection, or use a content blocker. Most block Google Analytics by default, and this site is built to work fully without it.
- Browse in a private window and close it when you are done, which discards the cookies with the session.
- Adjust what Google is allowed to do with the data through Google’s own advertising settings, if you have a Google account.

Kit acts on behalf of Daily Wisdom Books and has its own privacy policy covering how it handles the data it holds. So does Google. If you subscribe or visit from outside the United States, your data is stored there.
The server logs are the sort of thing every web server records: an IP address, a timestamp, the page requested and the browser’s user agent string. They exist so the site can be kept running and secure, they are not used to build a profile of anyone, and they are not combined with the email list or with Analytics.
Links to other sites
Book pages link to Amazon, and the author page links to Amazon and Goodreads. Nothing loads from either company while you are on this site, and neither can see you until you choose to click through. Once you are there, their own privacy policies apply, not this one.
The Amazon links are affiliate links. Each one carries a short code identifying this site, so that if you buy something Amazon knows the visit came from here and pays a small commission. It costs you nothing extra and it changes nothing about the price you pay. What it means for your privacy is narrow but worth stating: from the moment you click, Amazon can associate that visit with this site. Until you click, nothing is sent and nothing is shared.
Every page carrying those links says so on the page itself, and the arrangement is set out in the terms.
Reading lists and articles link out to free public domain texts on Project Gutenberg and similar archives. The same applies to those.
How to leave the email list
Every email carries an unsubscribe link. One click, no questions and no confirmation step, and you are off the list. You do not need to write to anyone or explain yourself.
How to see or delete what is held
Write to mitra@dailywisdombooks.com from the address you subscribed with and ask. You can ask for a copy of what is held, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted outright. Deletion means deletion: the record is removed from Kit rather than flagged as inactive.
Analytics data is a harder case, and it is only fair to say so rather than promise something that cannot be delivered. It is not filed under your name or your email address, so there is no way to look up your visits and hand them over or single them out for deletion. What you can do is stop it at the source, using any of the opt outs above, and clear the two cookies. That is the honest answer.
Requests are answered within thirty days, and usually within a few. There is no charge.
How long it is kept
Your email address is kept for as long as you stay subscribed. If you unsubscribe, Kit keeps a suppression record so you are not accidentally added again later, which is the standard practice and the reason an unsubscribe actually sticks. Ask for deletion and that goes too.
Analytics data expires on a schedule set on the Google Analytics property and is then deleted by Google. The two cookies last until you clear them or they expire on their own.
Children
This site is not aimed at children and does not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has subscribed, write to the address above and the record will be removed.
Changes to this policy
If what the site collects ever changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. It has happened once already: an earlier version of this page said there was no analytics and no cookies, which was accurate when it was written and stopped being accurate when Analytics was added. This version was written from measuring what the site actually does, not from a template, and that is the standard it will be held to.
